NALC Executive Council meets and continues collective-bargaining preparations

Bargaining has officially begun! The opening session happened on Wednesday, June 25, and representatives from the NPMHU Negotiations Team and the U.S. Postal Service met the following day (Thursday, June 26) for the first main table session.
The agreement will run through May 20, 2027.
The Negotiating Team reached a Tentative Agreement with management during one of the government’s most turbulent times. However, the National Negotiating Team does not have unilateral authority to impose the contract on the membership.
Arbitrator Nolan awarded general wage increases of 1.3 percent in November 2023 (paid retroactively), 1.4 percent in November 2024 (paid retroactively), and 1.5 percent in November 2025.
APWU and management were unable to secure a negotiated agreement by midnight, September 20.
The APWU represents more than 200,000 employees nationwide.
The National Office is asking that all proposals be submitted as soon as possible, but no later than January 31, 2025. The National Office also has issued a form that can be used to submit proposals.
