On Saturday I received my “Blue Book” for my retirement date of September 1, 2017. I called Human Resources to schedule an appointment for my retirement only to be told the next available appointment was September 8, 2017, seven days AFTER I retire. I argued with them for quite a while only to slam down the phone when our conversation was close to being over (damn it’s old fashioned, but it felt good)!
The Postal Service has downsized an important benefit to its employees. Waiting two months just for a consultation is pure BS! I want to scream it from the rooftops how the USPS screws over their employees by reducing these types of assets. As far as retirement, I have a firm already that will complete my paperwork and give me the advice I need for my future, however, most employees are not as fortunate as myself and before I leave this joint, I want to make a case of this incident. No one should have to wait over two months for any help in retirement!! Any suggestions on my approach to this matter would be greatly appreciated!!

During 2013 The OPM rep informed me I was (unretired )without any notice to me. Finally, after many needless calls I spoke to a man with two months seniority. He was excellent and shared my paperwork was inaccurate, The computer kicked it back upon trying to process. Again I was retired two months later. What a joke to be told we don’t know what happened. Then a two month employee found the problem and made the correction.
Also during the unretired period no compensation until much later.
