USPS Handbook EL-505 name changed from Injury Compensation to “Workers’ Compensation”

Effective June 30, 2022, the Postal Service™ is revising Handbook EL-505, Injury Compensation, to change its name to “Workers’ Compensation” and to update standards in various chapters. Revisions will also include deleting Chapter 2 and the Index.

Handbook EL-505 is being revised to reflect changes and updates to applicable U.S. Postal Service¼ regulations, policies, and guidelines. Obsolete material will be deleted, position titles will be updated, and text will be revised to more closely reflect standards and wording in the U.S. Office of Workers’ Compensation Programs — Federal Employees’ Compensation Act Procedure Manual.

Although the Postal Service will not publish the revised handbook until August 2022 or later, the standards are effective immediately.

The Postal Service will incorporate this revision into the next edition of online Handbook EL-505, which is available on the PolicyNet website:
