USPS: Portland District offers mobile service for seniors

Portland, OR, Retail Associate Desiree Freeman serves a customer at a retirement home recently.

Visiting the Post Office can be a challenge for some older customers. To overcome this obstacle, Portland District recently took its services on the go.

A retail team from the district visited several retirement communities to offer a full range of postal services. The team helped the customers purchase stamps, mail cards and letters, ship parcels and more.

“We received many compliments,” said District Retail Specialist June Norbom. “Seniors appreciated the service because without it, they could not send out a package.”

USPS also offers other mobile services for older customers, including participating in informational fairs to raise awareness of foreign-based scams that target older people.
