Subject: Notifications of Surface Transfer Center (STC) work being “insourced”–returned to postal workers

Union Family,

Attached are three notifications the Surface Transfer Center (STC) work is beginning to be “insourced”—brought back to postal workers. This is something we were told was going to be happening. It appears that the first 9 locations are being returned:

Contract STCs to Close no later than September 2023

  • Indianapolis, IN
  • Memphis, TN
  • Salt Lake City, UT

Contract STCs to Close no later than October 2023

  • Atlanta, GA
  • Springfield, MA
  • Washington, DC

Contract STCs to Close no later than October 15, 2023

  • Southern California STC

President Dimondstein has been told on more than one occasion that all contract STCs will be brought back inhouse. We have also been told that all the work the STCs are doing will be “insourced”.

Affected locals should be on the lookout for the work being returned and doing all they can to make sure work that belongs to APWU crafts is properly assigned to the APWU and performed by APWU bargaining unit employees.

Thank-you,
