USPS: In remembrance – Flags should be flown at half-staff

(March 7, 2016) President Obama has ordered flags flown at half-staff to honor former first lady Nancy Reagan, who died this week.

Flags should be flown at half-staff until sunset Friday, March 11, the day of interment.

To fly the flag at half-staff, hoist the flag to the peak for an instant and then lower it to the half-staff position. The flag should be raised to the peak again before it’s lowered for the day.
