(August 20, 2014) PLAINFIELD, N.J. â The United States Postal Service Northern New Jersey District officials will be hosting a special postal job fair at City Hall on Thursday.
Plainfield Mayor Adrian O. Mapp is organizing the joint community outreach at the Watchung Avenue complex from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. to assist the USPS in filling their open positions.
Attendees will have the chance to learn about and apply for postal service openings, including: clerks, carriers, temporary holiday employees, motor vehicle operators/truck drivers and auto mechanics.
âBuilding partnerships with stakeholders like the USPS is important to Plainfieldâs future; this upcoming job fair is a blessing that will open doors to more job opportunities for our residents,â Mayor Mapp said.
Attendees are encouraged to bring their resumes to the fair.
One of the nationâs largest employers, the United States Postal Service employs 500,000 people across the country, including more than 21,000 in New Jersey. Thursdayâs job fair is the first step in a highly competitive hiring process. USPS human resources professionals will be available to answer questions and assist with applications.
