The Postmaster Finder, which is the Postal Service’s historical database of postmasters, relies on the submission of PS Form 8020 to stay updated.

USPS wants to ensure the accuracy of Postmaster Finder, the organization’s national historical database of postmasters.

The database is maintained by the USPS Historian’s Office, which relies on the receipt of PS Form 8020, Report of Installation (Postmaster or Officer-in-Charge), to keep it current.

Employees who conduct office transfers should submit a Form 8020 whenever a postmaster is out of the office because of extended leave, military deployment, a detail assignment, a new position, retirement or removal.

Another Form 8020 should be completed when a postmaster returns from leave or a detail assignment, or when a new postmaster is appointed. Form 8020 should also be completed when a new officer in charge is installed during an office vacancy or postmaster absence.

Completed forms should be mailed to Historian, U.S. Postal Service, 475 L’Enfant Plaza SW, Washington, DC 20260-0012.

Additional instructions are provided on the form, which can be found on Blue.
