Our local has received a heavy workload from our APO’s and RMPO’s. Our stewards are accumulating a heavy workload in representing these offices. The big problem is that they are doing a lot of work off the clock and racking up mileage on their vehicles trying to investigate and process grievances. Although a lot is done over the phone, much of it really needs to be addressed in person, especially maintenance issues.
We were wondering how other locals deal with this problem. We can’t continue to expect our stewards to put in so much of their own time, gas money, and wear and tear on those vehicles without compensation. That’s not an easy thing with dwindling membership and funds. There must be other locals facing these same problems. Any suggestions?
