Effective June 27, 2023<\/span><\/strong>
\nThe Act requires \u201ccovered employers\u201d to provide \u201creasonable accommodations\u201d to a worker\u2019s known limitations related to pregnancy, childbirth, or related medical conditions, unless the accommodation will cause the employer an \u201cundue hardship.\u201d An \u201cundue hardship\u201d exists where the accommodation would involve significant difficulty or expense for the employer.<\/p>\n

Examples of reasonable accommodations under the PWFA include:<\/p>\n

1. Ability to sit or drink water;<\/p>\n

2. Access to closer parking;<\/p>\n

3. Flexible hours;<\/p>\n

4. Appropriately sized uniforms and safety apparel;<\/p>\n

5. Additional break time to use the bathroom, eat, and rest;<\/p>\n

6. Ability to take leave or time off to recover from childbirth; and<\/p>\n

7. Exemption from strenuous activities and\/or activities that involve exposure to compounds not safe for pregnancy.<\/p>\n
