No APWU member should have fewer benefits today, then when they started their career. The current APWU President and Legislative and Political Director used our benefits as a bargaining chip.
Opting out of Medicare was a benefit many of our members have used. It’s a financial and personal decision. It was given away without a thought because it doesn’t affect the current APWU President or Legislative and Political Director.
The pre-funding mandate was not the fault of the postal employee. Yet the Unions give up our benefits so congress would repeal the mandate. Why must retirees and current employees pay for something that was no fault of their own?
The NALC was able to get 6-day delivery as law. What did the APWU get? The answer to that is nothing. The APWU President likes to tout that the 6-day deliver is a win for us. Correct me if I’m wrong, but the processing plants run 7 days a week, 24 hours a day. The AO offices are open 6 days a week. They would continue to be open regardless of 6-day delivery. The profit that the USPS gets is from retail window operation not delivery.
It’s a win for the NALC not the APWU.
Don’t let the APWU President and Legislative and Political Director continue to lie to you. They should be held accountable for their actions. What else are they willing to give away if they stay in office? Are you the hard-working APWU member willing to take that chance?
