(November 13, 2014) CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Approximately 15 people were taken to area hospitals early Thursday morning after becoming sick at a U.S. Postal facility in west Mecklenburg County, according to post office officials.

Paramedics transported at least nine people from West Pointe Dr. around 5:45 a.m. and were called back out to the facility around 8 a.m. after another person became sick. Those patients were suffering from symptoms common with food poisoning.

Officials also said two other people went home on their own after feeling ill before paramedics arrived.

Investigators haven’t determined the cause of the illness but postal officials told Channel 9 that the workers became sick after eating leftovers from a Veterans Day potluck.
