A Village Post Office (VPO) in Cottonwood, CA, made news last week when it sold a winning lottery ticket worth $1.3 million.
Gas Point Market, which became a VPO last year, sold the $2 scratch-off ticket May 27. The winner came forward the next day, placing the store in the news. Its postal sign and blue collection box are visible in some photos.
The VPO will receive $6,500 for selling the ticket. The winner, Steven Woodlief, a 24-year-old U.S. Forest Service firefighter, will receive $1,000 a week for the next 25 years.
