National Disability Employment Awareness Month (NDEAM), an annual campaign to promote awareness and sensitivity about disability matters in the workplace, is underway. This year’s theme is “Expect. Employ. Empower.”
NDEAM dates to 1945, when Congress designated a week in October to encourage employers to hire people with disabilities. The week was expanded to a full month in 1988.
The Department of Labor’s site has more information about NDEAM. USPS employees can find additional resources on the Postal Service Reasonable Accommodation Assistance Center’s site [blue].
