The Postal Service is inviting employees to participate in National Wear Red Day Friday, Feb. 3.USPS employees are invited to wear red Feb. 3 to help raise awareness of heart disease.
The day aims to raise awareness of heart disease, which is the leading cause of death for both men and women in the United States. Heart disease accounts for about 1 in every 4 deaths, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).
About half of all Americans have at least one of the three key risk factors for heart disease: high blood pressure, high cholesterol or smoking.
National Wear Red Day is part of American Heart Month.
Employees who participate are required to follow their facility’s dress code in the USPS Employee and Labor Relations Manual, Section 930, Uniform Program.
