USPS hiring hundreds of local mail carriers in Kentucky, Ohio and Indiana

CINCINNATI — The United States Post Office is hoping to hire 300 new mail carriers — and fast.

“They don’t have to have any type of experience,” said Charlotte Morrow, who works for USPS customer relations. “We’ll train them, we’ll show them what the job is all about and it can really open up some other careers for them in the post office.”

Morrow started as a mail carrier with USPS 20 years ago. She said there’s plenty of room to move up with the postal service.

“Carrying mail is not for everyone,” Morrow said. “You’re out in the elements for 6 hours or more at a time. They weren’t kidding when they said neither rain nor snow nor gloom of night — that’s exactly the conditions that they’re out in.”

Applicants must be 18 years old (or 16 with a high school diploma), be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident and must pass a background and drug test. You can apply or get more information on USPS.com.
