Effective July 2024, the Postal Service™ will revise Handbook EL-307, Reasonable Accommodation, An Interactive Process, to reflect changes and updates to the Postal Service’s guidance on providing reasonable accommodation to Postal Service job applicants and employees with disabilities. The changes were made to ensure that the Postal Service is compliant with Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) regulatory requirements.
Revisions include:
- Exceptions to disclosing medical information;
- How to get funding for accommodations;
- Where to get guidance and technical-help documents from the EEOC.
Although these revisions will not be published in Handbook EL-307 until later in July, the handbook containing the changes is the May 2024 edition. These standards will become effective immediately after this edition posts.
Handbook EL-307 is available on the Postal Service PolicyNet website.
