USPS Flag notice for Veterans Day and Texas church mass shooting

Colby Venters, a retail associate at the Canton, TX, Post Office and an Army veteran, raises U.S. and POW-MIA flags recently.

Saturday, Nov. 11, is Veterans Day, one of six days each year that Postal Service facilities are required to fly the POW-MIA flag.  Because Veterans Day is a designated USPS holiday, the POW-MIA flag should be raised Friday, Nov. 10.

The flag honors the sacrifices made by members of the armed forces held as prisoners of war or listed as missing in action.

The POW-MIA flag must fly below the U.S. flag.

Additionally, President Trump has ordered U.S. flags flown at half-staff to honor the victims of this week’s mass shooting at First Baptist Church in Sutherland Springs, TX.  Flags should be flown at half-staff until sunset Thursday, Nov. 9.
