The Postal Service is marking USPS Ethics Awareness Week by reminding employees of their duty to protect the sanctity and security of the mail.
Customers trust the Postal Service to timely deliver letters, payments, medications and packages with care.
Stealing, delaying, damaging or destroying mail erodes the public’s confidence and drives customers away. Employees who engage in those actions may lose their job and face criminal prosecution.
Employees who are having trouble keeping up with their assigned duties should speak with a supervisor.
The free, voluntary Employee Assistance Program is available 24/7 to assist any employee. This includes those experiencing personal issues that may be affecting their ability to properly perform their job duties.

Any attempts to destroy or steal mail be reported to the USPS Office of Inspector General.
