USPS: Employees can change benefits when circumstances change

You can change your benefits if you’ve experienced a birth or other qualifying “life qualifying event.”

You don’t always have to wait until open season to change your benefits.

You also can make changes if you get married or divorced — or if you experience a birth, a death, a change in employment status or another “qualifying life event.”

Generally, you have 60 days from the date of the event to make changes.

Missing an opportunity to make these changes could mean wasting money or not having the coverage you and your family need.
