USPS: Dangerous mail – Sentence handed down for ricin mailer

A Mississippi man who mailed threatening letters laced with ricin to President Obama and other officials was sentenced to 25 years in federal prison May 19.

James Everett Dutschke pled guilty to producing ricin and mailing the letters to Obama, Sen. Roger Wicker and Judge Sadie Holland in April 2013. The letters addressed to Obama and Wicker were intercepted before delivery, but one letter reached Holland. No one in her office was harmed.

This case was investigated by the Postal Inspection Service along with their federal, state and local law enforcement partners.
