So Granny Upchurch of Chattanooga, TN, was amazed when she received a letter from her 8-year-old granddaughter — even though the little girl didn’t include Upchurch’s city, state, ZIP Code or return address.
“Someone in the Postal Service went above and beyond to ensure my granddaughter’s card made it to my mailbox,” Upchurch wrote in a recent letter to the Chattanooga Times Free Press.
In many cases, mail deemed undeliverable winds up at the Postal Service’s “lost and found” facility — the Mail Recovery Center in Atlanta. Not so this time, thanks to the diligence of the Postal Service employees who handled Upchurch’s letter.
“Thanks USPS for taking the time to find my town and deliver it. You not only made my day, but thrilled an 8-year-old who thought her special card was gone for good,” Upchurch wrote.
