Hawaii recently said aloha to its first Village Post Office (VPO), which opened in a variety store in Haiku, a community on Maui.

The VPO is part of Hanzawa’s Variety Store, which opened in 1915.

“The Haiku Post Office serves such a large area that some of our customers must make a long drive,” said Haiku Postmaster Tom Cooley. “The Hanzawa VPO is located near the edge of our service area. Now customers have the option to purchase stamps and mail Priority Mail Flat Rate Boxes there.”

USPS has opened more than 600 VPOs, which help make postal products and services more convenient for customers.
