(KGO) – United States postal workers took to the streets of Palo Alto with a message for Staples executives meeting inside a downtown hotel.

As KGO’s Jeannie Lynch reports, the protest was over the postal service’s new partnership with the office supply company.

Caroline Frederico with the US Postal Service claims the partnership takes away good, stable jobs and replaces them with low-wage, high-turnover jobs.

“US mail is not for sale, and there is no reason to have a post office inside a Staples store, other than for the convenience of Staples,” protestor and union member Omar Gonzales tells KGO.

Representatives of Staples were not interested in speaking with our reporter.
