Two federal workers involved in shooting at Lovettsville post office

The Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office, in a press release issued Wednesday afternoon, says it has been requested to conduct the investigation into the Lovettsville shooting in coordination with the U.S. Postal Service Office of Inspector General.

“The Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office responded to a shooting this morning that occurred in the parking lot of a United States Post Office in Lovettsville and involved a federal officer.

The shooting occurred shortly after 9 a.m. in the 10 block of N. Church Street. The U.S. Postal Service Office of Inspector General (OIG) confirmed that a USPS OIG special agent was involved in an agent involved shooting which resulted in the agent discharging his firearm and shooting a Postal Service employee. The Postal Service employee was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office has been requested to conduct the investigation into the circumstances of the shooting in coordination with the U.S. Postal Service Office of Inspector General (OIG).

As this is an ongoing investigation, no further details are being released at this time.”
