When they come to your facility to take your SV scanners and give you the old blue clunkers, come back and read this article again. You are ABSOLUTELY in the fight against consolidation ALONE. NEB will not help, been there.
A moment for housekeeping, bear with me.
To add, I am seeing a lot of trash being talked about our fellow APWU dues paying members who chose to vote against the disastrous Kamala Harris, because they value their families, YOUR children, secure borders, lower crime & more transparency in government. Running our yaps about fellow union members is not productive during a time when the APWU organizing department is 100% soliciting membership from the very people out there doing our work at Pitney Bowes and any other entity pre-sorting, driving, maintaining equipment in the private sector. As a 26+ year dues paying APWU member I vote how the #%&$ I vote. End of story. Less energy attempting to blame the state of the USPS on people who vote for the interests of our families and country over the job & more asking our NEB why we arenât organizing the CPUâs and standing against the USPS plan to abandon our USPS rural customers, just as they are attempting to do to all of you who are facing retirement and/or consolidation under the 10 year plan.
(For more info on the history of the Richard G. Wilson federal facility and our former status as a thriving, efficient and record busting P&DF, please search this website for âCape Girardeauâ.)
In 2006, under the Globalist leadership of GW Bush, the Postal Accountability & Enhancement Act was passed. This was started by Congress & was signed into law by a globalist, corporate welfare POTUS. The position of the PSE came about in 2011. This is after they stopped the Postal Battery Exam and went to a more lax hiring process that weeded out a lot of veterans in the new hire pool.
In 2013, we underwent an AMP study. Imagine a Function 4 only more rigged. For a few years, it was an overtime free for all. 12 hour days available when there was literally nothing to work. Tons of late slips due to dispatch times set to conflict with truck arrival & departure schedules. This all laid the groundwork to create inflated operation, transportation and labor costs. It worked. They used the fabricated expenses to make it appear that our facility was broken. In 2015, we underwent our first consolidation. We lost our AFCS,, OCR, AFSM-100, SPBS and some things I have probably forgotten. I fought it tooth & nail, all the while wondering why the APWU NEB was doing NOTHING to stop what was happening here and in other facilities or put out the Documentation that was gift-wrapped for APWU VP Debbie. After going public after my job, pension and freedom were threatened by OIG, who was supposed to protect me as a cooperating witness.
Cape Girardeau was suddenly relieved of the assault on our people and our jobs by the sudden departure of JaNan OâBrien (Plant Destroyer) & Gail Hendrix (sp?). We were left alone and soon were upgraded to a Surface Visibility scanning site.
In early 2020, the rumors circulated of a renewed attempt to move our remaining operations to St. Louis P&DC, Hazelwood, MO NDC & Hazelwood Priority Annex. In 2022, our SV scanners were taken, leaving us with undocumented mail volume until yesterday morning.
So, yesterday, we assigned, closed and loaded all the placards going to STL. IÂ created a ticket for our old, blue clerks scanners. When assigning the placard, each placard must be scanned individually. One they are assigned, you can then close and then load them in groups of 30.
The USPS Help Desk tech, expedited our ticket to a higher level to see if there is a work around for the assigning issue. Doubtful, which is why they got the SV Scanners in the first place, the old ones suck. Should get an answer this week. If there is no workaround, the solution is getting us our SV scanners back.
Yesterday was the first time we have had assigned & closed placards leaving our facility since we lost our SV Scanners.
We also scanned all incoming placards Unload and to (C) SCF Breakdown/HUB or (D) Dock Transfer.
Anything that gets broken down on the dock or inside gets scanned (C}. If is is cross-docked, option (D).
It takes time but this is how we get our badly needed jobs back in SCF Breakdowns, Dock and elsewhere. Scanning matters again!
Donât be complacent, document your work. Do the scans. They will get rid of your help and you will be screwed hard.
Lots of fear-mongering out there. Keep your head and follow the facts. In the meantime, protect your bid jobs.
Who benefits from the switch from FEHB to PSHB? On the surface, the APWU and any union with a health plan in PSHB benefits greatly. Once we hit the minimum eligibility age for Medicare, we are forced into Medicare and the TAXPAYER becomes the primary payer for our healthcare costs. Additionally, out of the FEBH, the unions with health plans can solicit membership with companies like 10 Roads Trucking for their drivers, pre-sort mailing operations & delivery operations in the private sector. The APWU gets a crop of new members AND they get to put the bulk of the insurance payouts on the taxpayer. Great, right?
What if, letâs sayâŠ. What if someone leaked rumors of a merger of the USPS into the Department of Commerce, causing panic among the National Executive Boards of the APWU & the NALC who were in full support of the 10 Year Plan because of the benefits for the union that could be threatened by pulling the USPS back into the FEHB. Wouldnât that cause you to panic when you were banking on the ratification of the NALC contract and you basically got EV, EV chargers & outside organizing as your big win takeaways. Would that get you quoting the right wing WSJ standalone article and the words of an orange man who tells the truth? Did our Politician-President get played? What if they do an EAS RIF and clean up the waste, fraud & abuse we have all bitched about from our first day? What if the service & performance improve?
Time will tell.
God Bless us all.
