United States Postal Service is observing Black History Month

USPS has honored the contributions of African Americans with its Black Heritage stamp series. Past stamps have featured hall of fame baseball player Jackie Robinson, U.S. Rep. Barbara Jordan, abolitionist Harriet Tubman, civil rights activist Malcolm X, Supreme Court Justice Thurgood Marshall and poet Phillis Wheatley.

February 6, 2026 The Postal Service is observing Black History Month, which began Sunday, Feb. 1. The annual commemoration traces its roots to 1926, when historian Carter G. USPS: Martin Luther King Jr. Day is Jan. 19

The Postal Service’s Martin Luther King Jr. stamps include releases honoring him, as well as To Form a More Perfect Union, a 2005 collection highlighting milestones in the cause of equal rights for African Americans.

January 15, 2026 Martin Luther King Jr. Day will be observed Monday, Jan. 19. King helped organize the 1963 March on Washington, where he delivered his landmark “I Have a Dream” speech.
