I was a Step “L” Electronic Technician in Massachusetts and stepped down to MPE Mechanic so I could transfer to Florida. I heard that if I get promoted to ET I go back to my old Step. I have also heard this is not true but that I would go to the next higher pay Step from what I am making now as an MPE. Which is true? Help needed.

On any promotion you follow the promotional chart. Here is a link from the APWU website for it. Be advised the charts in the elm are not correct as it is stated on the APWU site.

So depending on what step you currently are as a MPE would determine what step you would be promoted to as an ET.

I was an ET, top step and took a downgrade to MPE to transfer. When I was promoted back to ET, I resumed at top step.
