Seek Less Expensive Venues for National Conventions

Whereas: The National Convention is the highest ruling body of the APWU, and
Whereas: It is in the best interest of the union to encourage large numbers of members to be able to attend the National Convention, as an educational and participatory experience, and to fully and democratically represent the broadest spectrum of our membership, and
Whereas: The cost of hotels at the 2014 National Convention exceeds $200 per night including tax, and
Whereas: High costs restrict the number of delegates whom locals can afford to send, therefore, be it
Resolved: That the APWU national leadership is hereby requested to place a high priority on affordability for attendees, when selecting sites for future national conventions, consistent with our principle of patronizing only union-represented hotels and convention centers.
