Postal Service says it’s cheaper, faster to use its website to change address

USPS_Change_Of_Address_COACollege students changing their addresses should use the U.S. Postal Service website instead of private websites, if you want to have the change take effect in a timely manner.

USPS in Madison sent out a news release on Thursday, saying they’ve received plenty of calls from people who have used online companies to change their addresses and have not had the changes go into effect.

Some of the companies charge up to $50; the USPS charges about $1 if done online.

“With students returning to school, this would be a good time to get the message out that the USPS is the place to go to change one’s address,” said Bob Sheehan of the Madison USPS office.

You can also change your address for free, by going to the local post office.
