Postal Service Cuts Hours At Wildwood, GA Post Office

Wildwood_GA_PO(July 16, 2014) Approximately two dozen people were in attendance at a meeting last week at the Wildwood Post Office to hear how the U.S. Postal Service’s “POST” plan would effect operating hours and services offered.

The Postal Service’s POST plan is designed to make sure America’s communities continue to have access to products and services as they right-size the Post Office network to reflect the nation’s current use of its services.

The Postal Service had sent surveys to almost 700 residents, but only 216 were returned. Of those returned 90 percent was in favor of realignment of the hours of operation for the Wildwood office.

Larry Jones, manager of post office operations, announced the new hours for Wildwood. Those hours are Monday through Friday 7:30 a.m. until 3:30 p.m. with the office being closed from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. each day for lunch. Also, Saturday hours will be 7:30 a.m. until 11 a.m.

Saturday hours remain unchanged and access to inside mail boxes will also remain unchanged, Jones said.

Wildwood, like Rising Fawn, are among thousands of post offices across the country being effected by the new POST plan.
