I’m a Postage Due technician. They abolished my job in August but there’s still six hours of work to do every day. I was doing the work.
Last week, the day after Martin Luther King day, I started at 7:30, my regular starting time for the last 12 years. My supervisor told me she wants me to start at 9 o’clock from now on, no more Saturdays off and that I would be having Friday off. She gave me a 24 hour notice. She told me and the Union she would just pay out of schedule pay. She also said she would pay the extra out of schedule pay for not giving me a weeks notice. I forgot the name of that pay.
I was off Saturday and Sunday and then they told me my new day off with Friday and not to come in. I didn’t come in on Friday as per my instruction. On Saturday they kept asking me if I want to take LWOP, annual or some other kind of leave for not working on Friday. I don’t want to take any leave. They told me to stay home.
My postmaster is bat crap crazy. Can anyone help me with out-of-schedule issues raised in my post? Thanks.

Marci,
Thanks much. I think I filled out a 71 with guaranteed pay on it and we will see what happens now.

They couldn’t change your schedule until the following week given the untimely notice. You were entitled to work your normal schedule the week you were notified. That being said, if you went in at 9:00 on Wed and Thur you would be entitled to guarantee time of 1.5 hours per day (and maybe it for the 1.5 on the back end). Then they owe you 8 hours guarantee pay for Friday.
