I sit here in disbelief I’m even having to write this, but it is the postal service after all. What are everyone’s thoughts on the fact that it seems the conventional 7-tons are not equipped with spot mirrors located under the side mirrors? In my 29 years of operating commercial vehicles I’ve never encounter this, nor the reaction management appears to be having.
“That’s the way they were ordered” “No unapproved modifications” etc….etc.
They seem to claim the mirrors on the forward fenders are adequate when in reality those are and have always been secondary to the spot mirrors under the side mirrors. I just wanted to hear other MVS drivers thought and reactions from other managements around the country.

Well here in Pgh Pa we have only received 1 new truck so far an 11 ton and it does not have the mirrors either

Having the same issues here at the Miami P&DC, I got Safety involved. I didn’t even bother to speak to my manager on this this issue. It seems that Peterbuild make an error by sending out these trucks without the convex mirrors below the side view mirrors. That have shipped the mirrors for our VMF to install them. We have that issue with the 11Ton as well.
