Plant consolidations will start January 10th with the consolidation of outgoing mail. The schedule will be posted at https://ribbs.usps.gov/. The surviving mail processing plants will be almost 24-hour operations. Expect massive job postings and repostings in the gaining plants. Thousands of vacation plans in 2015 will be messed up. No career employees will be laid off. Williams didn’t mention a Voluntary Early Retirement offer. Employee parking at the gaining facilities will be at a premium during the tour overlaps. Maintenance people will have a big challenge keeping the machines running.
