You are right I looked at the wrong pay scale on the APWU’s web site. I looked at the 09/03/2016 pay scale which included the 1.2% raise plus our most recent COLA.

As of 11/15/2014 a topped out Level 6’s annual wages were $56,791.

As of 11/14/2015 a topped out Level 6’s annual wages were $57,472.

As of 09/03/2016 a topped out Level 6’s annual wages were $57,493.

If your pay stubs do not reflect these numbers than there is a different issue.

And your original point was that you got a negative raise, which is factually incorrect.

Thank you Mr. Nodine for doing the math for them,

I know the sound of a 1% Health Plan cost increase can be confusing.

Anytime we see percentages used, we must ask the question, “Percentage of what?”

Our raises are a percentage of our Base Pay. Simple right?

But an additional 1% for Health Care is only 1% of the portion we pay for our particular Health Plan, and NOT 1% of our Base Pay.

So a 1% increase in our Health Plan cost would translate to to .001% of our base pay for a Health Plan that costs 10% of our base pay.

In real dollars, a 1% raise on $50k per year would be a $500 per year raise.

A 1% increase in a $5,000 per year Health Plan cost would be $50.

That would net a $450 raise.

Sorry, Danny Clements–we’ve done the math. Not sure where you got your total for my new topped out annual salary, but that is not the correct total. It’s actually a bit lower than what you’ve quoted, based on my pay stub.(And yes, I’ve been around long enough to top out.) The point remains, give us a raise, then raise everything else.

Your State and Local can opt to absorb the dues so they don’t increase. This option is available for every contractual increase.

The pay raises are similar to the pay raises in past contracts. 1.2 % of your annual salary of $57,493 (for a topped out level 6 Clerk) is a lot more than 1% of what you pay for health care. Sit down and do the math.
