Can anyone out there help me please? Is this a True or False Statement: The only difference between an MPE and an ET is that an ET loads software? My answer is False, and I believe there is a much greater difference between these two jobs other than just the task of loading software. Does anybody else agree with me? Please list the differences because this is what I’m being told at my facility. Thanks for any helpful information you can provide. Peace!

ETs do digital electronics while MPEs do only basic electronics. ETs do alignment and calibration, while MPEs do only adjustments. ETs do all manner of computer work, both hardware and software, while MPEs only use computers as a “menu driven” test device.

I have been told the same at my facility. I’ve heard the ETs are supposed to be able to do everything also. But that’s just not the truth from what I’ve seen.
