More workers needed at booming Watertown and Waltham Post Offices

The Watertown and Waltham Post Offices are looking to hire 30-50 letter carriers over the next 12 months. USPS will be holding a hiring event at the Watertown Post Office, 126 Main Street, Watertown: July 18, from 10:30 a.m. – 12 p.m.

Known as City Carrier Assistants (CCA’s), the jobs start at $16.06 an hour with immediate health benefits and available overtime pay. After 6-12 months, the carriers are eligible to apply for a career position with even better benefits including a federal pension. Due to the high level of upcoming retirements, there are great opportunities for advancement within USPS including becoming a sales clerk as well as positions in accounting, human resources and management. Candidates need to be 18 or have a high school diploma, be a legal resident of the US, and have 2 years of driving experience. Additional positions are available as auto mechanics and truck drivers.
