Latest Postal Bulletin offers back-to-school safety tips

school-is-in-safetyWith the new school year about to start, the latest edition of Postal Bulletin reminds employees to keep an eye out for children when driving USPS vehicles.

The cover story encourages employees to take extra precautions when driving in school zones or near playgrounds.

Drivers should also:

  • Adjust mirrors to see around their vehicles.
  • Stop postal vehicles at least 10 feet away from the bus to allow enough space for children to enter and exit the bus safely.
  • Slow down and obey speed limits.
  • Stay alert for children who may fail to look both ways while walking or riding bikes across the street.

The Aug. 18 Postal Bulletin also includes a list of invalid USPS corporate account numbers and information on ordering digital and traditional postmarks.
