President Dimondstein says that a PSE Clerk cannot decline conversion to career status.
So what exactly, are the ramifications for the employee who refuses the full-time job?
The only logical assumption is that they will be fired – for not taking a promotion. And our National agrees with this?
If they’re are not fired – then they get to keep their PSE position which means that they CAN refuse. Am I missing something here?
And just to keep things interesting, the Maintenance Q&A says that those PSE’s CAN refuse conversion.
There is however, a silver lining to this. All this unratified language added to our contract is sure to keep the grievance procedure flush with new cases for years to come. It’s job security people – I’m sure that all the stewards and NBA’s were worried about losing their positions due to “lack of work” can now breathe a sigh of relief.
With the advent of the new conversion MOU and Q &A’s, the National has pulled the covers off the ol’ Grievance Machine and cranked it up to full-blast.
