Former APWU Des Plaines Local President pleads guilty to embezzling $18,857

via Office of Labor-Management Standards (OLMS)

On July 12, 2017, in the United States District Court for the Northern District of Illinois, Eastern Division, Lonzell Moore, former President of American Postal Workers Union (APWU) Local 1730 (located in Des Plaines, Ill.), pled guilty to one count of embezzling $18,857 in union funds, in violation of 29 U.S.C. 501(c). The guilty plea follows an investigation by the OLMS Chicago District Office.

    Makes me sick! It’s scum like this that gives Unions a bad name! 33+ years a Local Union officer, 26 a Registry Clerk, I cannot fathom anyone taking anything, including in stewardship of someone else’s money! A troubled conscience would seem to make it not worthwhile even if you get away with it. This guy needs to be barred from APWU for life.
