APWU: Emily Weber Appointed to New NBA Position in Wichita Region

On October 28, 2022, Emily Weber was appointed by Clerk Craft Director Lamont Brooks to the new post of National Business Agent (NBA), Wichita Region. The Wichita Region represents clerks in Oklahoma, Kansas, and Nebraska. This position was created by vote of the delegates to the 2022 APWU National Convention in August. In accordance with the APWU Constitution & By-Laws, Clerk Craft Director Brooks was required to receive a majority vote of the Clerk Division Council which is comprised of the Director, Assistant Directors and National Business Agents. The vote of the Council was overwhelmingly in favor of his decision.

Emily is the current President of the Kansas Postal Workers Union and has served in several positions at the local level. She began her postal career as a PSE in Caldwell, KS before being converted to PTF in March of 2015. She was promoted to a NTFT position in Caldwell in September 2015. She is a member of the Wichita, KS Area Local. Sister Weber will begin her term as NBA in November of this year after the installation of officers is held on November 16, 2022.

Director Brooks, in explaining his decision to appoint Emily, stated, “This Union has to look to the future and ensure that we embrace our younger members and officers who will inherit our rich history that has been built over the years and continue to grow and help deliver for our members”. The national officers of the Clerk Craft welcome Emily Weber to the fight for justice for all members of the American Postal Workers Union, AFL-CIO.
