Coralville, IA post office relocates

Coralville officials, USPS officials and others attended a ribbon cutting Saturday for the grand opening of a new post office branch in Coralville.

A new U.S. Postal Service branch in Coralville began serving customers Saturday morning after a grand opening ceremony.

The new branch, open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday and from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, is located at 2150 James St. This location replaces the Coralville Station post office, which was at 420 10th Ave. and permanently closed Friday.

Riad Rahhal, a resident of Coralville, stopped by the new branch shortly after it opened to drop off a package. He said he thinks the office looks nice, has decent parking and is located in an accessible spot.

Rahhal said that although employees were a bit slow in finding stickers and supplies, his overall impression of the James Street location was favorable.

“I think it’s going to work out,” he said.

City and rural carriers that serve zones 52241 and 52246, a zone previously handled by the Iowa City post office, will now operate out of the new location, a former USPS Courier Annex.
