November 8, 2014 – CAPE GIRARDEAU COUNTY, MO (KFVS) – Authorities are investigating a man’s death in Cape Girardeau County, Missouri.
The victim has been identified as Terry Dale Dalton, 64, of Cape Girardeau, Missouri.
According to Cape Girardeau Sheriff John Jordan, the man’s body was found at Elk’s Lake just outside of Cape Girardeau.
The Cape Girardeau-Bollinger County Major Case Squad was activated to help in the investigation early Saturday morning.
Dalton was member of the Elks Lodge.
Elks members tell Heartland News that a gunshot was heard Friday afternoon around 3:30.
His vehicle’s glove box was open and his wallet found opened.
Elks members say they believe it is possible Dalton was shot and his body put in the lake.
They also say when he didn’t get home last night, his wife filed a missing persons report.
He was a US postal worker, according to Elks members.
The sheriff says Dalton’s autopsy is scheduled for Saturday afternoon.
