Who is allowed to change Biohazard Detection System (BDS) cartridges?
MM, MPE or ET?

At the Cedar Rapids PDC, anyone doing anything with the BDS is required to be BDS trained. So, since they only wanted ET’s trained, only trained ET’s can do that. Replacing cartridges is part of the daily. Yes, it can be done outside of daily maintenance. But since that is a daily task, requiring training, management here has seemed to accept that it must be performed by a trained person.

Not sure who is allowed but all 3 (MM, MPE, and ET) have done it at the Philadelphia P&DC. When I left in 2011, an MM was performing that work on Tour 2.
Of course, requirements for proper safety training must be met (HazMat/LOTO/PPE, etc).
