I have not seen a tentative 2025 March pay chart released by the National, so I worked up one to compare it with the NALC’s top Step. So, proceed with caution or do the math yourself. Though they have different titles, a City Carrier used to be equivalent to our Grade 6 and City Technician used to be equivalent to our Grade 7. Comparing a tentative March 2025 APWU employee to a March 2025 NALC employee then:
- an APWU 6 hired before 5/3/11 makes about $1.76 less an hour than a City Carrier.
- an APWU 6 hired after 5/3/11 makes about $2.75 less an hour than a City Carrier.
- an APWU 7 hired before 5/3/11 makes about $1.91 less an hour than a City Technician.
- an APWU 7 hired after 5/3/11 makes about $2.86 less an hour than a City Technician.
- an APWU 8 makes about $0.75 less an hour than a City Technician.
- an APWU 9 makes about $0.10 less an hour than a City Technician.
The APWU full COLA is based on Grade 6 so for Grades 7 and above it is a diet COLA.
