APWU to Hold Briefing Immediately Following June 19 Office Depot Shareholders Meeting: Why Federal Regulators Should Block The Staples/Office Depot Merger
Union to Detail – for the First Time – Its Meeting With FTC Legal Team Reviewing Merger

06/18/2015 – BOCA RATON – The American Postal Workers Union (APWU) will hold a briefing on June 19, immediately following the Office Depot shareholders meeting, to outline why federal regulators should block the merger between the two office-supply retail giants. The briefing will be held at the Renaissance Hotel in Boca Raton, Florida, the site of the shareholders’ meeting.
APWU representatives also will detail a recent meeting between representatives of the Federal Trade Commission and the APWU, where the union discussed its report, “No Sale.” The report outlines why an office-supply monopoly would be bad for consumers and communities across the United States. In addition to reviewing the union’s findings in “No Sale,” discussions with the FTC also touched on topics such as B2B (the sale and pricing of office supplies to businesses) and B2G (the often exclusive contracts between government agencies and Staples for office supplies).
