The main reason for this proposed resolution is all APWU Members, both retirees and non-retirees, should be treated in the same manner at the APWU National Conventions.
- We should all be united and eliminate all divisive issues.
- The one (1) for twenty-five (25) ratio would not harm the APWU in any way.
- Retirees are long time APWU Members and have no desire to harm the APWU.
- Retirees love the APWU and that is the reason we stay involved
- Retirees want to be a full part of the APWU.
- Retirees’ membership has remained stagnant for a very long time at 30,000 members of which approximately one have are members of a local or state chapter.
- My home retiree chapter (Southwest Coastal Area Local Retiree Chapter) has been able to send four (4) retirees to the National APWU Convention, and we have approximately 225 members.  California State APWU has been able to send six (6) retirees to the National APWU Convention.  If we had a ratio of one (1) for twenty-five (25) these union members would be permitted to vote and speak on important issues before the convention and feel as if they are a part of a united union.
- Please consider supporting this resolution at the 2026 National APWU Convention in Los Angeles, CA.
