12/03/2015 – According to a recent poll by the Pew Research Center, while only 19 percent of Americans trust the federal government, an overwhelming 84 percent view the Postal Service favorably – making it the most well-liked federal agency. The USPS outranks even the National Parks Service and NASA.

And the love is bi-partisan. Of those that said they were Republican or leaned Republican, 78 percent said they viewed the Postal Service favorably; 89 percent of those who said they were Democrat or leaned Democrat viewed the USPS favorably.

The poll – based on more than 6,000 interviews conducted between Aug. 27 and Oct. 4 – showed that the percent of Americans who trust the government is among the lowest levels in the past half-century. Fifty-five percent of those surveyed said that “ordinary Americans” could do a better job of solving national problems than current elected officials.

The Pew poll results continue a trend: A November 2014 Gallup poll found that the USPS enjoys the most positive image among 13 high-profile government agencies. In the Gallup poll, 81 percent of people surveyed aged 18-29 gave the USPS “good or excellent” marks.
