Ask these officers if they support retirees fully. I will be interesting to see if they state a position. Retirees are serious about this resolution and have been so for many years. The resolution does not harm the APWU or any member.

What is the team’s position on this resolution?

    Constitution Amendment

WHEREAS, calculating some estimated 35,000 Retiree Department members, paying full dues an average of just twenty-five (25) years, equates to close to a million years of full dues-paying members in the American Postal Workers Union history, and

WHEREAS, currently with five (5) elected national retiree delegates to the American Postal Workers Union National Convention, one in each region, the average representative voting strength is 1 for 8,000 members, therefore be it

Resolved, to amend the American Postal Workers Union Constitution & By-Laws

    John,

I remember hearing the same thing from State and National Officers who, unfortunately, would not go “on record” with the source of that information.

I also remember writing this when I endorsed Jeff Kehlert in 2016 and it’s still true today as it was back then:

“Debby Szeredy has held the position of Vice President for the last three years and has no outstanding accomplishments to show for it. I believe Debby is clearly not fit or worthy to hold the office of Vice President, or any other office. An example of what I’m referring to is exemplified in her complete disregard and abandonment of a rank and file member who entrusted his welfare to her based on promises she made but did not keep. The member was witnessing management’s deliberate attempts to delay mail and rationalize consolidation of a postal facility. Debby had publicly asked the membership for this type information in her position as Vice President. I met Debby in person at a NJSPWU Convention in 2014 and we talked at length about the case and she seemed very interested and told me to email her everything I had. The member took pictures and was working with an OIG agent. I assisted in sending the evidence to Debby – hundreds of pictures and descriptions in many emails over a period of weeks. That was the last we ever heard from Debby – she would not take phone calls or answer emails. In the meantime, the member was being threatened with removal and the OIG disavowed any knowledge or involvement. Debby blew a major opportunity to expose massive corruption, illegal delay of mail, and falsification of records to favor consolidation. But more importantly, she failed the membership. Her incompetency may well have cost hundreds of APWU jobs when the consolidations proceeded and excessing began. It’s my opinion Debby Szeredy contributes nothing to the betterment of the rank-and-file.”

    Sister Sue,

“…I doth believe you protest too much.” Enjoy your retirement. It was widely reported when the feminine revolution caused her reelection when she was not included on the ticket a while back. Surely you remember that.

Really we are going to start with this nonsense already?! John did you personally hear her say that – No, absolutely not because she would never have said that and I know without a doubt our good, dedicated, hardworking Sister Szeredy does NOT feel that way either… so who whispered in your ear to get you to do their dirty work by gaslighting Sister Szeredy? I bet I know who.. it is so unbecoming to circulate false rumors … maybe you should ask Debby directly rather than posting your not so innocent inquiry in an effort to cast doubt…

I seem to recall that in a previous election the Executive Vice President pledged that if the President became disabled, she would resign rather than ascend to that office. Does the pledge continue?
