USPS: This is our future – PMG discusses Election Mail, packages in latest video

State_Of_The_Business_PMG_DonahoeThe Postal Service will be ready for the surge in election-related mail during the next two weeks, PMG Pat Donahoe says in his latest video message to employees.

“We can expect to see heavy volume right up until Election Day. So we’ve got to stay with it,” Donahoe says.

It’s especially important to meet the expectations of customers who vote by mail, the PMG says. “We need to make sure that the ballots are getting through and they are being delivered to the election authorities in a timely manner,” he says.

The PMG also discusses why it’s important for the Postal Service to handle packages properly. “We’ve got to make sure we’re treating every package with the respect that a customer expects to be their shipper of choice. This is our future.”

Additionally, the video includes comments from several Edison, NJ, Customer Care Center employees, who discuss complaints they receive about left notices or improperly scanned mailpieces. “These issues are things we can easily fix by working together to improve the overall customer experience,” the PMG says.

The video concludes with the PMG thanking employees for doing a great job and asking for their help “as we enter our season — the holiday season.”
